Meet the Team…
Brooke Tangen-Huus, MA, LAC (Owner)

Prior to starting Tangen Counseling, Brooke was a Clinical Supervisor and oversaw multiple Outpatient Substance Use Programs specializing in working with the criminal justice population. She initially started her career in the mental health field working with behaviorally challenged children with intellectual disabilities while pursuing her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Business Administration with a concentration in Management. Upon graduating from Valley City State University with her BS in 2006, she went on to obtain her Master of Arts Degree in Addictions Counseling from Hazelden Graduate School of Addiction Studies in 2007 located in Center City, Minnesota.
Since entering the substance use industry as a professional, she has worked with several targeted demographic groups including but not limited to the LGBT-Qia+ community, young adults, men, women, dysfunctional family systems, complex trauma and co-occurring mental health disorders, and the criminal justice involvement population. Over the span of her career, she has held various positions within the substance use treatment industry such as Outpatient Counselor, Residential Counselor, Telehealth Counselor, Family Counselor, Outpatient Program Director Trainee, and Clinical Director.
Brooke has extensive experience with program development and has assisted in the development and opening of multiple treatment centers including both outpatient and extended care programs. She has been an Approved Treatment Provider for the Department of Corrections and she has been trained as an EMDR Therapist along with several other specializations that include but not limited to: Strategies for Self Improvement and Change, Thinking 4 Change, Motivational Interviewing, Impaired Driver Education Program, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and many different evidenced based curricula.

Christine Fiorey, BS, CAS

Christine grew up in Florida and has lived in the beautiful state of Colorado for ten years. She began to work in the field of behavioral health after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Central Florida in 2012. It was around this time she realized a passion for working with those grappling with addiction and their families. Being in her recovery herself, she has worked with clients at various levels of care and recognizes the importance of healing as a family. She is a Certified Addiction Specialist (previously known as a CAC III) and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Christine has a huge love for animals and enjoys being connected with nature, hiking, swimming, and traveling.
Meghan Behring, BA, CAS

Meghan Behring completed her Bachelors at Metropolitan State University of Denver in May, 2019 with a concentration in mental health counseling. Meghan began working at a community mental health and substance use treatment nonprofit in 2015. She has also worked with adolescents and families in the past 2 years through work with a professional interventionist as well as through an organization that assists adolescents and families involved with child protective services. She has a passion to work with adults and adolescents who are on a journey of personal empowerment by addressing past trauma, addictions and limiting self-concepts. Meghan has been leading substance use and trauma groups for the past four years, the past 1.5 years have been in intensive outpatient settings and believes that the power of a group can be more empowering than what an individual can accomplish on their own.
